Hotel Salina – Taranto, Puglia

The Salina Hotel in Taranto, located a few kilometres from the city centre and designed by architect Nico D’Ippolito, is one of the most important hotels in southern Italy, distinguished by its focus on sustainability and attention to detail in its various indoor and outdoor spaces. All the 85 rooms, which come in different types equipped with every amenity, are elegantly furnished with a contemporary and minimal style reflected in the choice of materials, presented in natural colours and shades of grey.

The hotel’s façade features the large, slimline Grande Concrete Look slabs, while Grand Carpet, the extra-large (120x240 cm) slimline slabs designed by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and inspired by ancient Persian rugs that create a single large, infinitely repeatable pattern, furnish the hotel’s lobby, reception and restaurant.

Various porcelain stoneware collections with stone, concrete and metal effects cover the large interior spaces: Powder and Blend for the floors and walls of the rooms and corridors, Mystone Basalto, which interprets volcanic stone with stoneware, for the outdoor floor and terraces, Rocking in the spa areas and Grande Metal Look with its iridescent surface for the auditorium, the foyer, one of the restaurants and the conference room.

In keeping with the interiors, several stone-effect collections in different sizes, textures, finishes and colours were used for the exteriors: the Mystone Ceppo di Gré collection, which reproduces the characteristic surface of the stone in its natural colour, chosen for the floors of the covered area and the roof garden, and Mystone Gris Fleury, characterised by shading and an irregular grain, for cladding the roof garden, bathrooms and floor of the swimming pool area. Stonework Outdoor was used for the external terraces.
